You may have me entertaining your guests at your function but I will not be the Star!
The Star will be one or more of your guests who have volunteered to come onstage with me and become the focus of some hilarious hypnotic antics.
Using the power of hypnosis, I will allow these volunteers to access parts of their unconscious that are normally hidden away. The result is often unusual behaviour that is funny because of the bizarre scenarios being considered.
Am I making fools of your guests?
Absolutely not! As I stated above, the real humour is in the crazy situations. For instance, who would be conducting a philharmonic orchestra while riding a horse?
No one!
And that is where the humour comes from. It is a crazy, unreal situation that the “actors” on stage are playing out. They are not being fools! They are being brilliant!
In another totally unnatural scenario, how would someone react if a mischievous emu suddenly appeared in front of them? Would they run from it or try to catch it? You will only find out on the night!
Your guests are being entertained by the hidden talents of their fellow guests. I am just the conduit and the director.
In fact, most of the time, the humour is being created in the minds of the audience members, by their own imagination.
If, somehow, the sound could be turned off, someone watching in the audience would not understand or “get” the humorous situation unfolding on stage. They would just wonder what on Earth was happening?
However, because they have heard the instructions and have imagined the situation in their own minds, the actions of the guests onstage become hilarious.
